About Maine Veterans In Need

Our Mission

Our mission is to assist veterans and their dependents who are in need, to advocate for those in active crisis/emergency, to prevent homelessness, and to help those who are homeless to transition into stable housing.

Why We Exist

Filling the Gaps

MVN, taking no government funds, does not have the administrative constraints of other organizations. Following an initial review of the immediate need faced by the veteran, we provide emergency services swiftly and efficiently.

By working with a host of veterans service agencies and other non-profits, MVN moves a veteran under stress or in crisis into a stable place, connecting them with the appropriate agency or agencies that can meet their long-term needs.

24/7 Availability

When You Need Us

Some things, like a meal, a bed, transport when a car breaks down, or simply someone to talk with, can’t wait.  That’s why we exist.  To make sure you have someone who understands, available, at the end of the phone or when possible, in person.

Feedback

From A Client

“When I was homeless and needed help getting back on my feet, MVN assisted me with all my needs from clothes and furniture to transportation. I am back on feet due to the generosity and pride that MVN takes on helping veterans like me.”
